Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports is reporting that a deal is near to being finalized that will sell the Sacramento Kings to Seattle leaving the California Capital with no major pro sports team. The deal is lead by Microsoft CEO Steve Balmer and hedge-fund manager Chris Hansen that will cost approximately $500 Million.
What will happen is that once the deal is approved by NBA Commissioner David Stern for relocation and the team will be able play in the 2013-2014 season. They will play the Key Arena fro two seasons and start playing in a new Seattle arena in the start of the 2015-2016 season. The new owners plans on changing the name back to the Sonics since Oklahoma City Thunder owner Clay Bennett left the name, logo, and history in Seattle when he relocated the team to OKC.
The fate of the Sacramento Kings have been ill-fated for some time now after the Maloofs decided to back out of an new arena and almost being relocated twice before . The only question now for Sacramento fans is that will there NBA basketball again?
